Dear Tamworth Elementary School Families,
I am very pleased to share with you that the Limestone District School Board (LDSB) has received funding from the Government of Ontario to support a school renewal project at Tamworth Elementary School.
Tamworth ES is receiving a significant renovation and addition that will improve accessibility and modernize the school.
The project will include:
- A new two-storey addition with an accessible entrance and elevator
- Renovations to existing learning and support spaces
- Upgrades to major building systems
Once the new spaces are complete, the existing 1963 two-storey wing will be removed.
Construction is expected to begin early November and continue through 2027. The work will be completed in phases, allowing students to remain at Tamworth ES throughout the project while being safely separated from active construction areas.
"This investment will help ensure Tamworth Elementary School continues to be a welcoming, accessible place for students to learn and grow. These improvements will further support students and staff, with a continued focus on student achievement and well-being.”
- Krishna Burra, LDSB Chief Executive Officer/Chief Education Officer
We will continue to keep families informed as the project progresses. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school.
I look forward to sharing updates with you as these improvements take shape at Tamworth Elementary School.
Sincerely,
Emily Yanch
Principal
